2013-2014 Board

Chapter Year June 2014 through May 2015

President's Welcome — Kathy Hammack, FHFMA

Greetings to all Southern California HFMA Chapter members. Thank you to all the loyal long term chapter members for your continued support. The board wants to send a special hello to all the new members who have just joined and want to know more about activities and the value proposition of joining HFMA.

The 2014-2015 HFMA SOCAL Board was installed at the May 15th Awards dinner on the Queen Mary. The Committee Chairs have been busy planning upcoming events for July and August. Fall Conference is in Garden Grove this year on September 7th-9th. Please watch your emails for the program invitations and we hope to see you at a session. If you are unable to get away from your office to attend an event, there are a number of free lunchtime webinars planned. Members also have access to many National HFMA pre-recorded webinars on a broad variety of topics - some of which are also free.

It was nice to meet many of you who were able to attend the June 6th Kick-Off meeting in Long Beach. Those of you who volunteered for a committee have the opportunity to bring your fresh ideas to enhance the value of the educational programs. The educational tracks are designed to help keep members current on hot topics related to State and Federal legislation, revenue cycle issues and case studies, CFO/Controller topics, and Government Programs. HFMA also has a certification program and most of the cost of the certification is free to the member. Becoming certified adds value to your resume as well as having the ongoing benefit of reduced cost to attend the three chapter educational full day educational sessions.

There will be several social networking events during the year. June 7th Day at the Races at Santa Anita was well attended and lots of fun. These events will be announced to the membership via email in the upcoming months.

Please contact me directly if you have any ideas or suggestions for improving member satisfaction or you may reach out directly to a committee chair if you have ideas for an educational program.
